About Keep Austin Fed:
Keep Austin Fed is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing food waste and fighting hunger by rescuing surplus food and distributing it to people in need. We work with a network of volunteers, food donors, and community partners to ensure that wholesome, nutritious food reaches those who need it most.
Position Summary:
Keep Austin Fed is seeking a passionate and outgoing Outreach Coordinator to expand our volunteer base, strengthen community partnerships, and enhance awareness of our mission. The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and engaging volunteers, fostering relationships with community organizations, and implementing outreach strategies that support the growth and sustainability of our programs.
Key Responsibilities:
● Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement: Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit, onboard, and retain volunteers for food rescue operations and other initiatives.
● Community Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, faith-based groups, and schools to promote collaboration and increase community involvement.
● Corporate Sponsorships: Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate sponsorships and partnerships to support program funding, volunteer engagement, and community events.
● Event Coordination: Plan and execute community engagement events, volunteer appreciation events, and informational sessions to educate and involve the public in our mission.
● Public Awareness & Advocacy: Represent Keep Austin Fed at community meetings, tabling events, and public forums to raise awareness about food insecurity and food waste.
● Communication & Outreach: Develop promotional materials, newsletters, social media content, and other resources to engage volunteers, donors, and the broader community.
● Data Tracking & Reporting: Maintain records of outreach activities, volunteer participation, and partnership engagement to assess program effectiveness and inform strategic planning.
Qualifications:
● Passion for food justice, sustainability, and community service.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse groups.
● Experience in nonprofit outreach or community organizing preferred.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Google Suite, and standard social media platforms.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
● Availability for occasional evenings and weekends as required for events and outreach efforts.
● Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
● Full-time annual salary of $45,240
● Option to enroll in Simple IRA with employer match up to 3%.
● Health insurance premium reimbursement up to $250/month.
