Become a Keep Austin Fed food donation partner to help save the planet and feed your community!
We welcome, and greatly appreciate, donations of wholesome and healthy surplus food from your restaurant, bakery, grocery store, event venue, or catering facility.
As long as it complies with governing health codes and Safe Food Handling Practices, Keep Austin Fed will pick up, at no cost to you, your surplus food or beverage and deliver it to a charitable organization that helps people experiencing food insecurity. We believe in making the “best use of the best food” and strive to provide our partners with healthy and nutritious food choices.
We cannot accept home cooked meals, prepared meals older than 4 days, meals that have been plated, or food from a self-serve buffet.
There are both Texas and Federal Acts protecting your business from liability, as long as you donate in good faith and believe in the wholesomeness of the donated food. You can be proud your hard work will not go to waste and stays out of the landfill, contributing to a cleaner environment.

Maybe you prepared a bunch of delicious food for an event that got cancelled. Or maybe the distributor delivered a big box of bone-in chicken, but you only use boneless. Whatever the reason, if you have some surplus food that is still perfectly good for eating, we are here for you!
The more advance notice you can provide, the better chance we have of locating a volunteer who can do it. We generally need at least an hour from the time you call to determine an appropriate recipient organization and find a volunteer to make the run. Depending on the availability of volunteers and the hours of our recipient organizations, we may ask you to safely store the food donation until the following day.
NOTE - We can only accept food items from commercially permitted businesses and farms/gardens to ensure safe food handling practices. Unfortunately, because of this, we cannot accept food from individuals or private events where the food has been out of the control of the commercial provider.
