Be a Food Donor
on-demand food donations
If you have food to be donated TODAY (or in the very near future), please call our hotline.
We can only accept perishable items from commercial kitchens and retailers to insure safe food handling practices. Unfortunately, because of this, we cannot accept food from individuals or private events where the food has been out of the control of the commercial provider.
If you think that you are going to have a donation outside of our hotline hours, please call a day in advance or properly store the surplus food until the following day. If you call and get voicemail, please leave a message and someone will get back to you.
Please note that our volunteers are everyday people who take time out of their everyday lives to respond to a call for food rescue. We do not have a pod full of people waiting for a call to come in. The bigger the window you have for us to pick up your surplus food, the better chance we have of locating a volunteer who can do it. We generally need at least an hour from the time you call to determine an appropriate recipient organization and find a volunteer to make the run. Unfortunately, we do not always have a volunteer available. We always appreciate you reaching out to us, and ask for your understanding if we are unable to meet your needs.

Become a Keep Austin Fed Food Donor to help save the planet and feed your community! We welcome, and greatly appreciate, donations of wholesome and healthy surplus food from your restaurant, bakery, grocery store, event venue, or catering facility.
As long as it complies with governing health codes and Safe Food Handling Practices, Keep Austin Fed will pick up, at no cost to you, any type and quantity of food or beverage and deliver it to a charitable organization that helps people experiencing food insecurity. We cannot accept home cooked meals, prepared meals older than 4 days, meals that have been plated, or food from a self-serve buffet.
There are both Texas and Federal Acts protecting your business from liability, as long as you donate in good faith and believe in the wholesomeness of the donated food. You can be proud your hard work will not go to waste and stays out of the landfill, contributing to a cleaner environment.
We welcome any questions and concerns and look forward to working with you!
