Coffee Bean names KAF a Community Partner

Coffee Bean Texas named Keep Austin Fed a Community Partner, recognizing the work we do to make sure Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf surplus food gets to hungry people in need and stays out of the landfill. The honor puts KAF in good company with such organizations as Caritas of Austin, Austin Humane Society, and Compost Coalition Austin.

Coffee Bean helps Keep Austin FedTwice a week, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf donates their surplus food to KAF. That includes pastries and prepared foods, such as sandwiches and veggie snack packs. On average each store donates about 10 pounds of surplus food twice weekly. KAF currently serves seven of the 10 Coffee Bean locations in Austin. That’s about 150 pounds of food weekly, or enough to feed 56 people.

KAF expects to expand to the following Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf locations in 2014:

  • ┬áSteiner Ranch, 5145 N FM 620 Rd., Building D, Austin TX 78732
  • South Towne Center, 5030 W US 290, Building 11, Austin, TX 78735
  • Canyon Creek, 8300 North FM 620, Building G, Suite 300, Austin TX 78726

If you want to help make sure Coffee Bean’s hard work and good food doesn’t go to waste, request to join the KAF group on GivePulse, the social network that promotes volunteerism.
